I can now count how many weeks I have left on two hands, folks! Two Hands! According to my due date, I’m about 8 weeks out from having Baby O, and I have some mixed feelings. On one hand, I can’t wait to get back to feeling like myself, and on the other, I wish I had an additional 10 weeks to prepare. But, regardless of my wishes, this sweet little girl is going to come when she is ready, so I’m kicking off my post-pregnancy life preparation a little early. When did you start to prepare for life after baby?
I racked my brain and came up with my Top 5 tips for rediscovering yourself postpartum.
1. Spring Cleaning Time
The last thing I want to do when I bring my baby girl home is clean my house. We all know that daily tasks are still a must: do the dishes, dust, sweep the floors, etc. Get out your heavy duty trash bags, turn on some pop music from the early 2000s, and clean and organize everything you have the time and energy for.
Not only will this reduce your stress levels when you come home from the hospital, but you will know where all your important items are, and know if you still need to get anything. I think I cleared out about 4 large trash bags in a week, and I already feel relieved.
2. Pick up Some Comfortable Feminine Products
[ctt_hbox link=”6JVOg” via=”no” ]We can sit and pretend that our lower regions are going to snap back to normal right away, but eventually we have to face the music.[/ctt_hbox] For the first week or so you have to wear large, uncomfortable, mattress like pads. There is no reason to continue the discomfort after those large boxy pads are no longer needed. That’s why I picked up U by Kotex® Cleanwear® Ultra Thin Pads and Barely There® Liners in the Style N’ Store packs last time I was at Walmart. They come in 4 designs so you can express your personality, and they have a super awesome drawer feature for convenient storage.
U by Kotex® understands you and knows that this is a very personal time in your life where you need to be able to feel confident and sexy again. The U by Kotex® Cleanwear® Ultra Thin Pads stay in place, have ultra soft sides for your comfort, and have unique 3D Capture Core with Express DRI for fast absorption and leak prevention. Once your lady business is back on a regular routine, U by Kotex® Barely There® liners are the perfect everyday liner because they are so slim and comfortable you barely know they are there, but you can keep strutting your sexy momma self just as you did 9+ months ago.
To add a little fun to this new experience, Kotex® is running a fun offer through 9/30! Purchase any 2 U by Kotex® products at Walmart and then text UbyKotex to 811811 and upload a photo of your receipt. Afterwards, go to UbyKotexrewards.com and choose your rewards. Rewards include Gift Cards, Ebooks, Music Albums, and Magazines. There is something for every new momma!
3. Plan for a Girls Night
Seriously. Even if it’s just you and your mom, plan ahead for a little refresh time. This can include drinks, a movie, dinner out on the town, a trip to the mall, pedicures, or anything that you enjoy. Maybe you just want to go spend an afternoon at girlfriend’s house, baking these delicious Pudding Chocolate Chip Cookies or Death by Chocolate Brownies. Ask your husband to watch the little one for a couple hours, and go feel like yourself again.
Can’t get away? Plan for a relaxing evening. No laundry, no dishes, no emails. Just you, a good book, and an at-home spa treatment:
- Rosewater + Coconut Makes for an awesome relaxing bath!
- Make some refreshing fruit infused water like this Strawberry, Lime, Cucumber, and Mint Water
- Try this Coconut Oil and Honey Face Mask to rejuvenate your skin
4. Get Your Groove Back with a Fun But Light Workout
How long has it been since you were able to workout like you used to? I know for me, it’s been ages. I tried a to do a burpee a few nights ago and it about made me pee my pants. If there is one thing I look forward to postpartum, it’s getting back in the swing of things with my workout routine.
But you have to start light, so get your heart rate flowing safely with one of these free and fun workouts:
5. Learn a Few Postpartum Clothing Tricks
Through some late night web browsing, I have found and recorded a few postpartum fashion tips and tricks to keep in mind. 1). Wear dark clothes. They are slimming. 2). Break out those old maternity pants that your belly got too big for too fast. You guys will be reunited in elastic harmony. 3). You can’t go wrong with leggings and a long flowy tunic. It hides the lumps and bumps AND you get to feel comfortable all the while.
Getting back to you is important. Everywhere we look online, writers are talking about how to prepare for a baby and what to do once baby is born. It’s equally important that you spend time rediscovering yourself postpartum. You have every right to want to feel beautiful and sexy again. That’s why you need to check out U by Kotex® at Walmart. They care about what matters to you. At Walmart you can save money, live better, and feel confident.
