Aren’t we are all looking for the miracle pill, drink, or 5-minute miracle workout? This isn’t it, but this natural detox for weight loss is an easy way to jumpstart your efforts.

I started preparing and drinking this “detox” about a three years ago, and did it twice a day, before coffee in the morning and then again before bed. Note: I’m not drinking this while pregnant. I just had it as one of my post ideas for a long time and wanted to share it with you now.
Initially, I was scared to death that it was going to gag me because the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar is so bitter, but to my surprise, it tastes like Apple Cider with a bit of a bite (I do not recommend sipping on it. One or two gulps will do the trick). Anyways, lost between 5 and 7 pounds during the month that I did it, but I was also eating a fairly clean diet and working out 3 times a week, so I can’t promise that this natural detox will produce large results on its own.
However, drinking it twice a day on an empty stomach seems to promote better overall health, more energy, and decreased appetite. That was my experience with it. So what are the benefits?
Benefits of the Ingredients in the Natural Detox
Apple Cider Vinegar – It is known to have antibacterial properties that can help fight off GI problems. It also brightens and clears skin. And lastly, the major benefit regarding weight loss is that it helps control blood sugar levels and it reduces appetite. Adding Apple Cider Vinegar to a glass of water when you want a snack or have a craving can help fight that craving and make you feel fuller.
Cinnamon – Again, this natural spice helps control blood sugar levels and regulate insulin. Many researchers claim that is boosts metabolism. And it also has antioxidant properties, giving it the ability to help repair skin and organs.
Raw Honey – Note the “RAW”. Other honeys are processed and lose the majority of their beneficial properties. Raw honey has antioxidant and antibacterial properties as well as the ability to balance blood sugar levels.
Natural Detox for Weight Loss Recipe
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar (I personally love Bragg’s)
- 1 tbsp. raw honey
- 1 tsp. cinnamon powder
- Combine warm water, apple cider vinegar, and raw honey in a glass. Stir until the honey is dissolved.
- Stir in cinnamon and drink immediately to prevent the cinnamon from floating at the top of your cup or settling at the bottom.
You can use other brands of Apple Cider Vinegar, but I recommend Bragg’s because it is all natural and also raw. You will notice that it is more opaque in color than other brands. On another note, Bragg’s also makes a delicious all natural soy sauce called “Liquid Aminos” and it is wonderful to dip veggies in or put on top of meat before cooking.
Be sure you use RAW honey.
If you can avoid it, use cinnamon powder and not cinnamon sticks. You need to consume the actual cinnamon and not just infuse the cinnamon into the drink to get the benefits.
If you don’t want to have to make this glass by glass, you can make a pitcher of it and put it in the refrigerator. I recommend only making enough for three or four days worth. Also, do not put it in the microwave, you will have to drink it cold in this case, or else you will destroy the “goodness” in the honey.
