As a stay-at-home-mom, it can sometimes seem impossible to lose weight with the pressure of children and managing a household. These strategies will help you lose weight effortlessly.
1). Add a Drop of Essential Oil
One way to lose weight effortlessly is with the use of some specific essential oils. Grapefruit, cinnamon, and lemon are all excellent for aiding in weight loss. Grapefruit oil actually helps your body break down fat. Cinnamon oil is known to reduce cravings for sweets, and lemon acts as a detoxifier. Some people also claim that lemon reduces their appetite.
To use essential oils for your weight loss efforts, simply add 1-2 drops of your preferred oil to an 8oz. glass of water and drink it first thing in the morning. You can do a second round in the evening before bed, too.
I use DoTerra essential oils and have had great success with healing and overall better mood and energy. While I haven’t tried it personally, DoTerra does make a Slim & Sassy essential oil blend that may be more effective than using just one kind of oil. It’s supposed to increase your mood, control your appetite, and support a healthy metabolism. Feel free to do your research and choose what is right for you, as essential oils are controversial due to the lack of regulations on them.
2). Move Every Hour
Being at home all day can create extremes in activity. For me at least, it seems I either spend most of the day running around or most of the day or sitting on my butt watching tv or playing with my daughter on her iPad. I’ve made it a priority to move around for 10 minutes every hour.
Get up and walk around the house with your baby. Clean something small. Step outside and walk around the yard or throw a frisbee for your dog. It doesn’t matter what you do, just don’t let yourself stay seated for more than an hour at a time.
Using a fitness watch like a Fitbit or Apple Watch that reminds you to move with a light buzz a great option to stay motivated and keep you on track. I have had both [ sadly, I got rid of my Apple Watch thinking I was going to switch to a Samsung phone] and I loved the features of the Apple Watch, but the Fitbit is much more affordable and offers the same fitness features.
3). ACV in the Morning
Last year I wrote a post about a weight loss detox that included Apple Cider Vinegar, and it was a hit with my readers. There’s a reason it’s popular. Apple Cider Vinegar can help reduce cravings and control your appetite. Now, I won’t lie to you; the stuff is nasty. Gulping down a tablespoon or two can feel like a workout itself, but if you can get it down first thing in the morning before coffee or breakfast, it will be worth it.
If you can’t take it straight, try mixing 1-2 tablespoons with a small amount of honey in a glass of warm water.
4). Simple and Effective Swaps
As a mom, I totally understand that cooking healthy meals during the day can seem impossible. Still, there are better, quick and simple swaps you can make to cut back on calories and satisfy hunger. Instant oatmeal in the microwave is a great breakfast. Add a little yogurt and you can even get in a decent amount of protein. Protein shakes are another great option, even if you don’t have time to make them in the blender. Just mix some of your favorite protein powder with some almond milk in a glass and stir vigorously with a spoon.

5). Track Everything You Eat
According to a study from The American Journal of Preventative Medicine, published in August 2008, logging what you eat may be one of the keys to successful weight loss. The study revealed that of 1,685 people being tested, the amount of weight individuals lost had a positive correlation with how often they kept a food diary.
Weight loss isn’t an easy feat. But, I’ve lost nearly 50 lbs. as a stay-at-home-mom. I haven’t been to a gym since having my children, and my hubby doesn’t take to likings of healthy meals, so most of our dinners are made to taste good without a care for calories.
If you put these strategies to use and make small changes, you will see success. Be patient and consistent.
