Have you heard of Aloha Plant-Based Protein Powder? Aloha Protein Powder has top notch organic ingredients, but is it actually good and good for you?
A week or so back I received my free trial of Aloha’s Smoothie kit, which includes 2 packets of their best selling protein powder and 2 packets of Daily Good Greens (I got 3). Being pregnant, I was ecstatic to try these because they are Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Vegan, and contain no artificial ingredients. Now read the back of a jug of standard whey protein powder and tell me what the ingredient list looks like?
Aloha Protein is a plant-based protein powder made with peas, pumpkin seeds, and hemp seeds. The flavors are extracted from all natural sources, and every ingredient is kosher and organic.
Now, I can’t lie to you. I skimped on protein powder for years. Whatever was on the shelf at Walmart was good enough at the time, and I didn’t think twice about it. But, when I got pregnant I was a little weary of using whey proteins with ingredient lists a mile long. You know, you get pregnant and suddenly give two hoots about your health and what you’re putting into your body. It made me realize that maybe I should reconsider my food sources.
With that being said, Aloha protein is just about as pure and Earthy as it gets. I’m telling you, you can smell the natural in this stuff. As soon as I tore open the packet of Vanilla Bean Protein Powder I could see and smell the difference. It didn’t have that chalky smell with a sweet undertone. It smelled like a field and I could see the different textures in it. It didn’t look like the chalk dust you scoop out of normal protein powder.
Flavor of Aloha Protein Powder
In all honesty, I was a little hesitant. I’m kind of a protein snob when it comes to flavor, but the combination of vanilla and a hint of cinnamon blew my mind! This stuff is really tasty blended with some almond milk, a frozen banana, and some spinach. I didn’t notice a chalky flavor, which is a common complaint with standard whey proteins. However, it does have a big of a “green” flavor to it. I assume that comes from it being all plant based. It didn’t bother me, though.
Benefits of Aloha Protein Powder
- Each serving contains 18g of pure protein, sourced from protein-rich ingredients.
- It contains Hemp Seed that is rich in omega-3s.
- Plant based proteins are easier to digest.
- 3g of Fiber per serving
- It’s Paleo-friendly
- Boosts energy and metabolism
Aloha Protein powder is ideal for people with special dietary considerations because it’s Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Vegan. I’ve known a lot of people who react negatively to whey powders. They get bloated or get indigestion or it just makes them sick to their stomach. Plant-based protein powders are typically much easier to digest and have less negative effects on the digestive system.
Good Morning Green Smoothie Recipe
I wanted to share my green smoothie recipe using Aloha Vanilla Bean Protein Powder with you. It’s citrusy and will wake you up with a boost of protein and sustainable energy. It’s my go-to breakfast smoothie at the moment!
- 2 scoops Aloha Vanilla Protein Powder
- 1 packet Aloha Daily Good Greens (optional)
- ½ frozen banana
- 1 cup spinach
- ½ cup almond milk
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- Blend all ingredients in a blender on high until smooth and creamy. Drink immediately.
What Does it Cost to Drink Daily?
Aloha protein is fairly comparable to other protein powders in terms of price. A single tin of protein containing 14 servings costs $33. At 14 servings, the price comes out to $2.36/serving. So if you drank Aloha protein powder every day for a month it would cost you about $71 per month.
But, another cool feature Aloha offers is a subscription that saves you 10%. You can have as many tins as you want delivered each month. Realistically, you would probably need 2 tins if you planned to drink it daily. With the subscription a 14 serving tin costs $29.50, making each serving cost $2.11, and your total monthly cost $63.21, which is insanely cheaper than other subscription protein powders like Shakeology and Le-Vel Thrive Lifestyle Mix. PLUS, all orders over $50 receive Free Shipping!
They also offer a Credit Program, where you can refer friends and family and receive $20 in store credit. How cool is that? That’s almost a free tin of protein.
